These photos were taken inside the plant between 2005-2009 by architect and professor Gabriel Díaz-Montemayor. They are views of the Ávalos smelter that I don’t believe any of us will have the opportunity to see in person. I’m very grateful to him for allowing me to share them with you all.
I am 44 yrs old and live in Chicago My Grandfather and Grandmother lived in Avalos and both my parents were born there I visited Avalos many times to visit all of my cousins whos Fathers also worked en lafundicion (LOS DE LA RIVA) I remember the vibrant cuandras and las quintas and I was finally able to go inside the plant after 40 years I have great pics I would love to share.
