Edith “Coky” Zangwill Bohanon, 78, of Mesa, Arizona passed away October 11, 2014 in Mesa. Coky was born in Mexico on May 5, 1936 to George and Sara Zangwill. George Zangwill worked at the Avalos smelter.
Coky became a naturalized U.S. citizen and had a very successful career working as an international banker for over 40 years, culminating in becoming the first female bank president in El Paso, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Christopher Begley. Coky is survived by her husband Charles R. Bohanon; children: Sara (Bruce) Begley, Charles (Theresa) Bohanon, Patricia Rodela and Kevin (Melissa) Bohanon; grandchildren: Stephanie Begley, Andres Rodela, Teresa Rodela and Alejandro Rodela; a great-grandson Diego; “adopted” daughter Cathy Morales and sisters Patty Holland-Branch and Caroline Zangwill.
Coky will be remembered for her strong faith and commitment to her family and friends. A role model for all who knew her, Coky had a loving, compassionate and generous heart.
A memorial mass will be Friday, October 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1244 S. Power Rd., Mesa. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1562 E.
