Listed in the 1930 Mexican Census is Mr. Vere Leasure, Superintendent of the Avalos smelter, and his family:
#11 Vere Leasure, 40, Superintendent; Ema Francis Leasure, 4; Margaret Leasure, 35; James Leslie Leasure, 4; John R. Leasure, 2; Ignacia Vargas, 22, Domestica
As I research the Avalos smelter, I come across various articles that mention employees of the smelter. Below is one such article from the 1958 El Paso Herald Post, which mentioned that Mr. Leasure worked for the Chihuahua smelter. In addition, as the first graduate of the Texas School of Mines, Mr. Leasure was honored by the City of El Paso with a street in his name, Vere Leasure Dr.
Also, from the 1994 Avalos reunion, a beautiful photo I took of Frances Leasure Harris, daughter of Vere and Peggy Leasure.
